Hexic HD (360): COMPLETED!

Well, completed Survival Mode anyway. All 50 levels of it. It took about an hour and 20 minutes, and now my brain (and eyes) hurt somewhat from all the hexagons. I’m not sure if the other modes can be completed or not, as once you reach level 7 you’re told it’s the final level. Besides, you can’t clear the screen in those modes. Hurrah for my first completed Xbox 360 game!

Hexic HD (360)

A few more goes, on Marathon and also on Timed. Timed is just the same as Marathon, only with a timer that ticks down. You add more seconds to it by matching tiles. Didn’t score so well this time. Also, how the hell are you supposed to manage to get six flower tiles in a flower shape? And then get six of the pearls they create together? Madness!

Hexic HD (360)

Yes, I know. Playing Hexic requires the purchase of an Xbox 360. Which I bought this morning. And I bought no games for it, as I wanted Oblivion, but wasn’t prepared to pay the £50 everywhere wanted for it (except most places didn’t actually have any copies at all in). I did get a 2100 point card for spending on XBLA games, but before spending that, I had just Hexic to amuse me. It is nice, and all, and quite …

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD (360)

Played quite a few games with my wife, winning about as many as I lost. Also had a try at some of the other game modes. “Y” is more like Columns, in that you have to get lines of three or more rather then groups of gems which you then trigger. It was OK, but not as good as X or X’ modes. “Z” is similar to Hexic, sort of, in that you rotate blocks of four to make groups, …

Hexic 2 (360)

Yes, it’s the same as the first game, only with more “industrial” graphics and a few extra bits. And yes, I was pretty crap at the first one. But, as is often the way with XBLA games, I couldn’t resist and bought the full version anyway. And I’m glad I did, because it’s actually a bit easier than Hexic HD. There are new power-ups and you can now get rid of hexes with a line of five, both of which …

Assorted Games (360)

With the new HDTV, it was time to try out some of the XBLA games and see how different they looked. Texas Hold’em was now actually readable, which is nice, and Geometry Wars is, well, bigger. And seemingly more colourful too. Frogger is just the same, only sharper, and Hexic HD is much easier on the eye.
